Reflections of... Friendship!

"The Enduring Symbol of True Friendship!"

        Reflections Of… Friendship!

                                           by Alan P. Scaglione

Ever hear that line…
People come into your life for seasons and reasons.”
What they bring to your life enriches, teaches, challenges, strengthens and sometimes, reinforces the building blocks of your life.
May be about your faith—some friends strengthen your faith through their example and their encouragement.
May be about your character—some friends challenge your character; some mold your character; some question your character.
May be about your vision—some friends remind you to dream, to not give up on your dream or… ask you what happened to your dream?
Whatever the reason—we need our friends to pull us back, push us forward, lean us up and sometimes, bring us down…to earth!
And we are better for it!
I have always said “Friends are the family you get to pick!”
I have an eclectic family of friends—some make me laugh, some make me think, some make me dream, some make me remember.
But they all make me glad that they share my life!
And those seasons and reasons?
Some go away for awhile…and you wonder if you will ever see them again…and you sometimes wonder…why they left?
And then…as God, in His infinite wisdom, only understands, you cross paths again and…reconnect.
And it is back reconnected, like you never ever lost touch!
That’s the real friendships that can withstand the test of time and travel—and still be true to the friendship.
You see that picture?
I know…what could The Three Stooges have to do with Friendship? And you are wondering if I will tell you?
Why certainly!!! Nuck, Nuck, Nuck!
Back in a previous period of my life—I did a lot of work in the recording studio!
I managed a group of teenagers called “Chosen”; I was the executive producer of some projects for solo artists; and I wrote some songs.
The best part of that era of my life was meeting Ric and Dave.
They are both prolific musicians and gifted singers and talented writers and over all—perfect music men!
I was blessed to work with them on several projects, my own and others—with their musical talents utilized as much as I could.
A friendship grew with both Dave and Ric—separately and together— we were like kindred spirits!
One night—by the way—you always work late nights in the studio—I surprised Ric and Dave with that picture—framed in black! Which we each signed!
They hung it up and said “That’s us—the Three Stooges of music!”
And that picture remained in the studio until Dave sold The Sound Shop—as a reminder of an enduring friendship and collaboration!
I have always cherished my memories of our times in that studio…
We stayed in touch but life has a way of pulling you a part and going in separate directions.
Thank God for Facebook!
I really do believe that God can take what some use for evil and turn it into good!
We three reconnected via Facebook—and just started sharing our lives again, via pics, via comments, via praise reports and prayer requests.
Sometimes… you just have to be reminded of the former days to rekindle the friendship for the present.
I went to see Dave and his lovely ladies sing, his bride Susie, and their lovely daughters Sam and Tori—just good to hear their music.
I love to hear all of them, Ric and Dave and Susie were known as Kindred Spirit when they sang together—and sounds soooo good!
And recently, Ric and I have crossed paths again—my nickname for him in the studio was always “Maestro” because he could play anything!
And hear him sing and play? Like you’ve gone to heaven!
It just reminded me when the scripture tells us that “a True Friend Loves at all times!” Proverbs 17:7

Sometimes…the “all times” just comes in seasons!
And once again—I’m thankful for reconnected friends!
