She’s the bravest person I know!
Brave because she cut off all of her hair?
Nah—she’s brave because…she took back control of her life!
She is calling the shots!
She decided to not let her hair fall out, strand by strand…
And it had begun...about a week ago.
Chemo will do that…
So many people just hope the hair won’t fall out.
Each day, they wake up, and…there’s hair on their pillow.
Then there’s hair in their drain.
Then there’s hair in their brush.
But still, they hope…it won’t all go away.
But usually, it does.
And it takes your hope away with it.
But not my forever friend—she said “It was going to fall out anyway—I decided to take charge of it and just cut it all off!”
Now that’s a hero!
Facing it head on!
And calling its bluff!
I deal with people getting cancer on a daily
basis.
Honestly, it just seems like it’s on an
upswing. And they are all ages, some young adults, 19 or 20, having to deal with this frightening enemy to your life.
And there are all kinds of cancer:
My best friend Ellen passed away from cancer of the stomach.
My mom Rose passed from cancer of the liver.
My precious Aunt Ciria also succumbed 2 years ago at the sweet age of 80… we made it past her birthday party!
So… I know a few things about this ugly disease.
I just say it at least 10 times a day, after I finish a call “I HATE cancer!”
But I love the success stories!
They are growing by the day!
I have a friend at work who had cancer of the appendix. He beat it—2 years out!
I have a dear friend TB who survived breast cancer last year!
And my family member Nikki also beat it--she is 6 months clear!
Maybe you lose something you thought you needed to be who you are—
Until you realize, all you need is YOU to be who you are—the rest is just stuff!
My sister Belinda had melanoma removed from her leg—skin cancer—2 years ago—and she is clear!
I had my colonoscopy at 50—benchmark year—they found 3 polyps, pre cancer… Doctor said it was good that I came in.
It is a key element
to success -- that we have early detection!
Don’t wait—
For men… have your prostate and colon checked. For women… have your yearly gyno/mammo exams!
Look… none of us like having those check-ups, men OR women, but…
We ALL like living without cancer!
We ALL like beating the odds!
We ALL like breathing in the dawn of a new day!
So please… don’t think it won’t happen to you!
Cancer is an equal opportunity offender—it knocks
on your door without calling first. And when it comes in—it wants to stay forever—you need to tell it IT’S NOT WELCOMED!
Come on—CALL TODAY—Make your appointment!
Back to that bold, brave and beautiful woman
in the picture!
She met with her doctor a couple of days ago
so she could be checked after round 1 of chemo. The doctor said “I think the lymph nodes are smaller!”
She responded to her doctor “I told you I was going to beat this!”
Doctor said “with that attitude—I think you might!”
She starts her 2nd round of chemo today!
And she is walking in with her new hair-do!
Putting cancer on notice—“you don’t control me—I’m gonna kick some cancer butt!”
And I, for one…
Would be very afraid if I were cancer—
She looks like she can do it!
