Reflections of...Country!

                                                    "IF... THEN!"

      Reflections Of… Country!

                                                                by Alan P. Scaglione

First of All, We Salute America’s  Heroes on this Memorial Day Weekend—We have our freedom because you served our Country!
From my father, Joe Scaglione, to Curt Morgan(our family’s Forest Gump) to my uncles Peter and Roland Cabrera(my mother’s brothers)…
I personally thank you for standing watch so we could sleep…safely….soundly, without fear—YOU did that for US! We are grateful!

Now to today’s column…
You see that picture? It shows what’s Right and what’s Wrong with America today.
In the midst of this horrific natural disaster in Moore, Oklahoma, where a teacher was such a hero for her students…
She admits that…she is not allowed to do the only thing that mattered in that moment…
And knowing that it was “frowned upon” “not suggested” and “not acceptable as a teacher”—she did it anyway!
WHY? Because she knew—the only hope they had at that moment was GOD!
And… she was right…about praying and … about her only hope!
Our country has gotten so “politically correct”, so “afraid to offend anyone” that we have watered down our beliefs and placed them in a closet.
Talk about “coming out of the closet?” – our closet Christians need to blow off those hinges and proclaim “I PRAY TO JESUS CHRIST, MY SAVIOR!”
And honestly… at this moment in my life, my “prayer plate” is full!
I have so many people I care about who are in desperate need of God’s healing hand:

-         My friend who is still dealing with the results of a surgery last September that changed her life forever

-         My friend who is dealing with an uncertain summer of battling and beating cancer

-         My friend who is currently recovering from falling off the wagon of 18 months sobriety—and trying to kick it all over again

-         My friend who is watching their mother-in-law go through the hospice process, slowly leaving this earth for heaven

-         My friend who is adjusting to life without their mom—accepting that sometimes, death comes when we least expect it

And I am reminded that… “IF my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, seek MY face AND PRAY…
THEN will I hear from Heaven and heal their land” II Chronicles 7:14

If you ever went to an Ethics class in college, you will remember the Logic statement “IF…Then…”-- if I do this, then I get that.
God is putting it out there…IF we call on HIS name, humble OURSELVES, SEEK His face AND PRAY…
THEN will HE hear from Heaven and heal our land!
I am not concerned about the political atmosphere of our nations right now…
I’M calling all CHRISTIANS TO PRAY!
I need God to help my friends, hear their prayer, heal their land…
I need God to know…HE IS MY RESOURCE, MY REFUGE, MY HEALER!
I can’t fix these problems for my friends, but I can commit them to prayer and ask my SAVIOR to hear their prayer and heal their land.
As their friend, I stand in the gap, stand on the wall as Nehemiah did—looking watch—never giving up—like our soldiers!
And I can recognize IN GOD WE TRUST!
I am thankful for a nation who still has citizens who will sometimes go against the “popular opinion” and say…
“I guess I did what I wasn’t supposed to do…and I PRAYED…with the children…I PRAYED OUT LOUD!”

Calling our Christians—It’s time we PRAY OUT LOUD!

IF…Then…

It’s just that simple!
