I have to admit- I am resistant to change!
I am never the guy with the first anything—if mine
works, why replace it?I had a dinosaur of a cell phone, a Pantec crap phone—hey? It took pictures and video, and it answered when someone called.
What else did I need?
Nothing…until…I did!
He asked to play with my phone—he immediately went looking for something.
He didn’t find it—he got exasperated!
He went to the corner and stood there.
My son, his father, asked him why he was in Time Out?
Jett replied, “Nano doesn’t have Angry Birds—everybody’s got Angry Birds—why doesn’t Nano?”
Hmmm..Why indeed?
My archaic Pantec was not a “smart” phone—it could not store “apps” like…Angry Birds!
So… What’s a Nano to do?
I went to the AT&T store and said “Make my grandson proud—give me the BEST and NEWEST phone out there—all the Bells and Whistles! I’ve got to impress a 4 year old!”
And…wizzbang, one hour later—I was the proud new owner of a Samsung Galaxy Note II – and it had Angry Birds… 2 different kinds!
The next weekend, I saw Jett—I showed him my new phone…
He said the words every grandfather longs to hear “Nano, your phone is coooool! Let’s play Angry Birds!”
And we did…for over an hour, with Jett showing me how to play—we made it to Level 13—I was a Cool Grandfather with the Cool New Phone!
Why did I wait so long??
It’s the BEST feeling to be COOL in a 4 year old’s eyes!
And the thing he loves the best about my new phone?
“Hi Galaxy!”
It’s Samsung’s version of SIRI on the Iphone…
But Jett doesn’t know that—all he knows is… she answers his questions!
Questions like “Why did the chicken cross the road?”
Or “How many elephants does it take to screw in a lighbulb?”
As you can tell—he is NOT using her for educational purposes!
Nope—we just giggle at her answers to stupid questions.
The typical answer is “That’s a difficult question. Let me search the internet for How many elephants does it take to screw in a lightbulb?”
And that’s where we just start giggling!
Hey—did I mention that I am now the COOL Nano?”
Why did I wait sooooo long? Technology is my friend—and my edge on Cool-ness!
Thank you Galaxy!
