   "Pray for endurance--NOT Deliverance!"

I have been overwhelmed with negative people lately. Life is so tough-- they just want to escape their life.
They are praying God will deliver them from what they are going through because there’s no way they could possibly survive it.
You’d be surprised what you can survive.
I’ve often said how many times I have awakened the NEXT day AFTER the one day that I knew I could not get through—just to see—I did!
We live in a world of doubters, skeptics, Henny Penny’s Sky is Falling mentalities—And I, for one- am sick of all the negative attitudes!
No one can seem to see the good in anything—no matter how good they have it!!

Points2Ponder  Why are we always looking for the escape hatch in life? When do we realize the lesson is taught at the end of the maze.

I was at McDonald’s getting a decaf coffee early Sunday morning, 6am early, and the supervisor was telling two of the teenagers to clock in and start working.
They both looked at her, rolled their eyes, and proceeded to drag themselves slowly across the floor and over to the time clock.
I asked the supervisor if I sensed some attitude in the employees, she said “attitude? They think I owe them something!”
I looked at them, and they heard me when I said “That’s nothing a little unemployment couldn’t cure—they need to know how good they have it—by losing it!”
And they glared at me—and I said “Life is good—you have jobs and apparently, a supervisor who puts with you—you should appreciate that and her!”
And I greeted the supervisor who thanked me and told the two teens “Anybody wanna go home—permanently?”
I laughed as I walked away—we used to call it—an attitude adjustment.
Now—the nation needs one!
We are such fast food nation—we want to be rescued and delivered and taken care of—when last time I checked, you don’t work, you don’t eat!
Why can’t we ever endure something? Why must we always look to escape anything that requires effort, time and diligence?
Today’s motto is—if it takes more than a minute—I just don’t have the time! Fix it for me—you owe me!
I owe you? Really???
I used to tell my kids—I don’t owe anything—“I brought you into this world—and …” you fiftysomethings out there know how to finish that line! Bill Cosby style!
We used to get through things—now, we just escape everything!
Don’t like our job? Just quit—go on unemployment until we find something we do like!
Don’t like our marriage? Just walk out—there are always more fish in the sea!
Don’t like our kids? Abandon them—hey, why should you have to be a parent when you didn’t ask for this?
No one has any ASSIDUITY!!!  That means “stickto-itness”—in other words—decide to stay and fight, dig in your heels and make something work!

We had an installer lay some wood flooring for us recently. James did a stellar job—I was amazed with his attention for details and dedication to quality.
He told me his mentor, his trainer, had told him “Do every job like you’re doing it for your mother!”
And I grew up when that meant—give MOM your best—if no one gets it—MOM should!
Nowadays—they give MOM the headaches, the brokedowns and the least that counts—sorry MOMS today—you don’t get any respect!

So… let me ask you ? What’s so tough about life?

You got lights? You got running water? You got a bathroom INSIDE your house? You got some food, whatever it is, that you didn’t have to skin or clean tonight?
So quit your complaining—and be GRATEFUL!
And just try it once—get through Something—ANYTHING without asking someone else to rescue YOU!
Gotta say it, for old time’s sake…

  1. Been catching up on reading some columns - REALLY like this one - exactly how I feel - everything isn't "right this minute" and everything isn't always easy - but SO WHAT - deal with it, quit complaining and get through it, persevere and realize that you probably have WAY more than most everyone else in the world - a job, food, a roof over your head.....it's easy to complain and want 'someone' to make it better for you - instead of taking charge and YOU choosing your attitude and your actions!
