Reflections of...Giving!

"The Word says To Give As You Have Been Given!"

         Reflections Of…GIVING!

                        By Alan P. Scaglione

You can’t out give God!
I have always said that—If you will be generous with others, God will be generous with you.
And you never know how your little gift of obedience is playing into God’s larger scale plan for blessing.
Obedience is the key—you are someone God wants to use in his larger plan to bless someone else—
And you get blessed by the joy of giving!
My favorite line is “Don’t block my blessing!” meaning that you have to allow me to do what God told me to do…
Because-- if I am obedient to His command, then He will reward my obedience.
It’s not an apple for apple trade off; it’s not about “if I give a dollar, God will reward a dollar!”
Nope—but His rewards can be in peace of mind, continued health, repaired relationships, favor in employment.
He is the Father—He knows best!
Just like when you raise your kids—you know why all candy all the time is NOT a good thing—but THEY don’t!
You have to trust that your Father will always have your best interest in mind—always!
You just have to trust and obey!
Because… you never know—what He has planned… for YOU!
There is a young couple who I know who is going through a difficult time.
Life has not turned out how they planned…Life is what happens when you’re making other plans…
They are facing financial struggles right now. He is out of work at this time.
He had a Christian co-worker/friend ask to come visit him.
She wanted to check on him and his family.
At the end of their visit, she asked him to walk her out to her car.
When they got to the car, she said “God told me to do this, so you have to allow me to obey God!”
In her car… she had groceries from Sam’s Club: boxes of diapers, and cans of food, various meats, boxed foods.
Reluctantly, he accepted her gifts and thanked her from his family to hers.
It was a magnanimous gesture.
After she left… as he was putting the groceries away, he found an envelope at the bottom of the box of food.
He opened it, and there was a $100 bill inside!
He was startled and didn’t want to accept—it was just too much for a co-worker/friend to do.
He called her.
And he asked “Why would you do this for me?”
She said “We are Christians. We are family. You are my brother, I am your sister. If you hurt, I hurt. Let me help, please!”
He and his wife praised God for bringing someone who did NOT know their financial need – to their aid and help!
Good story, right?
But wait… the story doesn’t end there!
The next day… his co-worker/friend calls him again.
She is exuberant!
She had to share with him something miraculous!
She said “When I got home last night and went through my mail, there was a letter. As I read through it, I cried. My ex-husband has owed me 8 years of back child support, and he never paid a dime. I have our daughter about to go to college, and I had no idea how I would pay for her college. I just knew that I had to be obedient to what God told me to do for your family. In that letter—was an $8000 check for back child support! God is so good!”
And he was just flabbergasted!
And she was just overjoyed—the joy that comes with giving!
Not giving so you can use it as a tax write off!
Not giving so the world can see what a “Good Person” you are!
Giving because…Obedience is far better than sacrifice!(1 Samuel 15:22)
Giving because…But for God, there go I!
Giving because…when your brother hurts, so do you!
Giving because…if there is any way that you can help, you feel compelled—to Help!
You can’t out give God!
And HE knows your heart!
Follow His lead—He will reward!
