Reflections Of…Courage!

See that couple?
They are the most
courageous, bravest, faith-filled couple I know! And their matching bald heads?
That just attests to their willingness to let the world know—
We’re not scared of a little cancer because we serve a B I G God!
This past week, Sandy had her last chemo treatment for now.
She wrote on facebook:
“My 6th and final round of chemo and my honey Derrick right by my side each time. scans...test results and hysterectomy coming up in the next few weeks. looking forward to getting 2013 over with. But doctor visited with me yesterday while doing my chemo and said I am doing remarkable considering what a high dosage of chemo they have given me. Said all my test results are off the chart for someone in my “condition”. Laughed and said, hey, I told you from the beginning that me and God have this challenge. I have the courage of a lion, and I fight like one too. Hear me Roar! Hahaha!”
Me and God have this challenge?
It’s been a long 4 months
since June 11th – when the doctors suggested she take a cruise or…
just do something she
has always wanted to do… and do it before Christmas—that’s the bleak diagnosis
they gave.Looks like my forever friend did just that—
She’s always wanted to LIVE !
And that’s exactly what she’s doing!
And to prove how she is living each day with a grateful heart and full of courage—
She has planned her own Celebration Reunion with all of her supporters.
We haven’t been able to “See” her lately…
Due to the constraints of chemo and the watchdog eye of Derrick—he has been the poster child for the best husband in the world!
So she decided—let’s have a Party!
And on November 2nd, in Tampa, Florida, at Lowry Park Zoo, she is throwing herself a Meet and Greet--Celebration of Life Party!
Just a hundred or more of her closest friends and family, who have been her Shadow while she fought this battle—and WON!
And I for one… will be right there—celebrating this LION of Courage who has Roared past the bleak diagnosis and the 6 rounds of chemo,
Sporting a bald head better than I have ever seen and never, ever losing her faith in the only one she knew could fix this—Jesus!
And after watching her ROAR through this One Unexpected Event in her life—my friend is a LION of Courage and an inspiration to us all!
The Word of God says
in Romans 4:20-21 “Staggered not at the promise, but was strong in faith and
gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that what God had promised, He was
fully able to perform!” and it says in Hebrews 11:6 that “without faith, it is
impossible to please God, for she who
comes to God must believe that HE is, and that HE is a rewarder of those who
diligently seek HIM!”
Those two scriptures
just describe my friend so well—she didn’t stagger, gave glory to God, was
fully persuaded and diligently serves HIM!
