Reflections Of…FAITH!

“Hello,
Now completed my 5th round of chemo on Wednesday and only one more
to go. Met with my GYN
doctor today and I am now a candidate for a hysterectomy. My body is reacting
very well to all of my treatments and I am bouncing back. Already scheduled
surgery for November 5th.
This will not cure the cancer. Still in stage 4 and spread throughout my body,
but this will take out some of the bulk and make me more comfortable. This is
wonderful news for me. I give all the glory to God.
It has been a fast paced and rough ride since
March but I know that 2014 will be my best year yet.
Love you all and please keep me in your prayers,
Jesus IS listening to us.”
That was an email sent
out by my brave, courageous, determined, “full of faith” friend who was told on
June 10th of this year that she was terminal.
She was encouraged by
her doctors to go and take that cruise or do whatever she has always wanted to
do—it was now or never! They told her she may not make it to Christmas.
Guess they don’t know everything!
Another dear friend of
mine just celebrated her one year anniversary on September 14th of
when her life turned around and inside out.
She encountered life
threatening symptoms that wound her up in the hospital, having emergency
surgery, just to go back in two days later and have more surgery…have her heart
stop more than once—days in a coma, and the doctors predicted that she would
not make it through recovery. And yet—one year later—she was back in the hospital—THAT same hospital—caring for her mother!
Guess they didn’t know everything again!
My daughter-in-law
posted something that reminded me of the core of my life.
Her post said “Faith is the firm foundation under
everything that makes life worth living!”It was a translation to a well known passage in the Bible.
Hebrew 11:1 which I remember this way:
“Faith the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen!”
Either way… it says it all… our foundation has to be faith and it is the substance of all we have ever hoped for…
And it makes life worth living even though we cannot put our hands on it, we cannot lay our eyes on it!
But… for my two friends…
They felt it, they’ve touched it.
And they are both alive to prove it!
And they are baffling and confounding doctors with every breath they take!
There’s a quote in our home that sums it all:
“Life is not measured in the number of breaths we take but instead, in the moments that take our breath away!”
And for me…
That email and that anniversary—both take my breath away! They remind me that—our prayers are heard, our needs are provided, our desires are met…
So when you face something you can’t see your way through or can’t imagine a way out of…
Remember that email my friend sent…remember the prayers HE has answered for you in the past…
And have Faith…it’s the substance, it’s the firm foundation…that makes life worth living…
If she can find something to be encouraged about, if she can find something to be thankful for..
Follow her lead…learn from her journey…
Take heart, be encouraged, and be grateful…
Because…
Jesus IS listening to us!
