    Reflections Of… Ministry!

“Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature!” Mark 16:15

That’s the basis for all missionary work—preaching the Word to every creature, no matter where they live.
And that picture?
That’s my friend Butch and his lovely wife Mavis—leading their God Squad in Costa Rica—this week! Right now!
They have taken His Word to a people who need to hear the Gospel—you know—the Good News—Jesus Saves!
At a time in their life where most people are talking to Charlie Schwab about how to coast into retirement …
Butch and Mavis have taken up their cross and followed HIM into the mission fields of Costa Rica and Brazil—
Not willing to slow down and coast into retirement—nope! They are taking the scripture to heart—and spreading the gospel!
In a very traditional way—using untraditional means.
Bringing an Old Message using a New Media!
That picture was brought to us via Facebook—from the mission fields in Costa Rica!
We who are following their mission trip have the opportunity to get almost real time pics and updates of what is happening!
It’s great to be able to see and hear almost immediately, the preaching of the gospel to every creature!
I’ve even heard of missionaries skyping from the mission fields in Africa.
Butch and Mavis skyped their last mission trip—it was exciting to hear and see—RealTime – the mission in motion!
I have grown up with missionaries—we used to send them to other nations.
As a God loving and God fearing nation—America has always sent missionaries to other countries to spread the gospel.
It was a surprise in the 1990’s when a missionary from Africa was sent to America—to preach the gospel to US!
His name is Rodney Howard Browne—and he led a 30+ week revival in Lakeland, Florida – and eventually settled in—
And started a church training missionaries for the American mission field.
It’s an old message—but it’s brought in a new media!
I just got a YouTube announcement of a Koinonia Conference, in my niece’s church in Ottawa, Canada.
That was on the same day that I passed by a tent with a sign that said “You missed it! Back up to Campmeeting Tonight!”
Anybody remember those days?
Tent Meetings?
I grew up when we still had them!
Even on hot summer nights—you went to that Tent Meeting because there was an evangelist who had come to town!
And that evangelist had a message for YOU!
I remember seeing people touched and changed at a Tent Meeting—under a summer moon—their life changed!
Not going to see many Americans sitting in plastic chairs under a tent – for a revival—to change your life!
Nope—there is no air conditioning—so nobody’s going to come and sit and listen to the message that will change their life.
It’s still Good News! We just want it with the Good Life attached!
And yet—in Costa Rica this week—my friends Butch and Mavis will be leading outdoor meetings- with NO AIR CONDITIONING!
And their meetings will be packed out! People travelling all day just to hear the GOOD NEWS!
At the end of their week—there will be a three day REVIVAL in a soccer stadium—proclaiming the Gospel to those hungry!
Hungry for the Spiritual Food only the Word can serve!
I pray for a mighty pouring of the Holy Spirit for that meeting in Costa Rica…
And I wonder when was the last time that we in America… were Hungry…for The Good News?
It’s the same old message that’s been changing lives for centuries—Jesus Saves!
Is America Spoiled?

Just glad Costa Rica isn’t!
