Reflections Of… FAITH!

Sometimes…He doesn’t answer your prayer…the way you prayed HE would!

And you just sit and wonder—why?

You pray and pray, and then you pray some more-

You get all those you trust to pray—to pray!
You wake up praying and go to sleep praying…
You quote all the scriptures and read all those positive sayings…
You confess your blessing; you speak those things that be not as though they are…
And the test results come back—cancer!
And for a moment, you allow yourself to just take it all in—and you cry.
You’re scared—it’s natural to be scared—but you don’t want to let fear smother your faith.
But for that first moment—when it feels like someone has kicked you in the stomach—you just go—Why?
My dear friend just found out… they have cancer— the PetScan came back—and it is not what we had prayed for.
And in that moment, not doubting at all that we serve a Big God—and HE knows why! He is still in control…bottom line—this is NOT over!
But you’re allowed to ask—why? Why me? Why now? Why this?
I must say it twenty times a day on the phone to my customers with disability claims…
“Life is what happens when you’re making other plans!”
And then I add…
“And no one ever planned for this—you don’t wake up one morning and say—this is the day I find out I have cancer!”
Nope—just doesn’t happen that way.
I am reminded of the story where EVEN Jesus took a second time!
Remember that story?
In a town called Bethsaida! – you know, middle class America!
The man was blind.
Jesus put spit in the sand and put it on his eyes.
He asked the man “What do you see?”
And the man responded…
“I see men as trees, walking!”
Jesus touched him again—and he was healed completely!
Sometimes—it doesn’t happen the way we thought it would—but that’s okay—as long as—IT HAPPENS!
Check out that story in Mark 8:22-25
There’s an old song that has words I have clung to in moments like these:
“And IF He chooses NOT to move in the way we prayed He would..
Confident HE’s working all together for my good…
I will stand upon HIS WORD for HE’s ABLE!!”
The words remind me that… even when He doesn’t answer our prayers the way we thought He should…
HE is still in control—and it is NOT over until HE touches it a SECOND TIME—and then— YOU’RE COMPLETELY HEALED!
And that’s what we hold on to—HE knows the plans HE has for us—and WE know…they are plans to prosper—for a GOOD end!
So…
Maybe it will be a summer when we kick some cancer to the curb…
Maybe it will be a summer when we spend some time in a hospital…
Maybe it will be a summer when we go through some stuff that we never thought we would…
But…
In the end—God has a plan, and HIS plan is the ONLY plan that matters!
I’m always reminded…

“IF God brings you to it…then HE can get you through it!”

With somber determination to see God work in a mighty way this summer in my friend’s life…

I remind myself every day of this healed heart that beats in my chest—and I’m eternally grateful!
He’s the same God!
