Yep—after four years of avoiding being sick—quite a feat, I might add—I came back from our St. Valentine’s Week getaway in Savannah—with a cold!
A good one! The kind I had to go to the doctor for, spend $125 on, with my first experience with an inhaler—just to hear the doctor say—it will work itself out!
Really?
I paid you that much money for you to refuse me antibiotics and tell me that my body will fight it off?
Well…four weeks later, I finally felt better—even if I still have a deep cough that makes me sound like a smoker—which I have NEVER been!
That’s another reason to celebrate Spring!
I am a traditionalist—All the Seasons start on
the 21st!
That’s how I was taught: September 21st,
December 21st, June 21st and… March 21st!Now—someone somewhere has decided that it moves!! And it apparently has moved to the 20th!
So… for you newbies to the Spring Fling—happy first day!
For the rest of us—it’s still the 21st!
Just a time to cheer!
Our family reunion is this weekend—we will be gathering together to celebrate our family, salute those who have left us this past year, like my brother Joe, and just look around and appreciate that, although we Cabrera offspring are as diverse as the United Nations, we are also as similar as a look, an expression, a shared memory!
And that just makes me think of why Spring is so much fun!
We get to get out and EXPERIENCE the fun of Life! The Beach, the Park, the outings—the OUTSIDE!
Even in Florida—we have spent a lot of time this winter going from car to work to house—and staying inside!
It’s time to stretch your legs, stretch your arms and just take it all in!
The sunrise!
The sunset!
The water!
The breeze—Spring breeze is so nice—almost as good as Autumn breeze! That’s my favorite!
But it has to be done outside!
You have to experience it while walking or running or dancing or skipping or jogging—do you see the pattern?
Anywhere but on your COUCH!!
Spring is NOT for the sidelines!
You have to get up close and personal with the birds and the bees, the flowers and the trees, the you’s and the me’s!
I know, I know… that last one was quite a stretch—but I want you to get it—get involved with LIFE!! Take a deep breath of living!
And EXPERIENCE!
We will blink and be talking about Indian Summer and then Thanksgiving—in a split second!
So… Spring into Action… and Soak up the Sun—and plan a reunion of your own!
Like the weather—life can be unpredictable-- you never know when you will see them all again— I thought my brother Joe would be here for a lifetime—but he’s gone!
Make a plan, make a call, make a move!
Life’s just staring at you—Daring you to ENJOY!
So…you up for it?
I know I am—never know?
It could be my last SpringFling!
