I'm Just Sayin'!

"Where is this guy? No white hair on HIS temples!"

                                          I’m Just Sayin’”

                                                                 by Alan P. Scaglione

Getting older… somehow it just happens without you noticing it.
Until one day… the guy you see in the mirror? Has white hair working its way up the temples of his face.
And you ask yourself… how’d that happen?
I just seem to be in that place in life, somewhere between raising children and waiting to die!
And the latter…seems like I have seen more than my share of people around me… doing just that!
Someone told me “Well, this is the time of life when everyone we know…starts disappearing…and we go to more funerals than weddings and showers!”

I have to agree—I’ve been to too many funerals lately!
But I just didn’t expect it to happen this quickly.
I remember asking my mom, while she was “waiting to die” how old she felt.
She said, “in my mind, I am still 18, graduating from high school, with my whole life ahead of me!”
She was a year old than I am now!

Getting older…starting the “Second Act” in life—after kids, after graduations, after “the after!”
It can be kind of freeing…and, it can be kind of disappointing!
We have this opportunity to reinvent ourselves—but our heart likes the life we had!
I look around and see so many people “my age”—with creeping white moving up their temples!
And they are NOT reinventing themselves, doing that ONE thing they always wanted to do, fulfilling that lifetime dream they were never able to do before!

Nah… a lot of them are just sitting on the couch, clicker in hand, retired in place… “waiting to die!”
The Word says in I Corinthians 13:12
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.”

I always say… “I have my reservation made, but I’m not in a hurry to get there!”
I know that someday, I will see HIM face to face; I will reunite with those who have gone before me;
My mom, My Papa, My niece, My aunt, and now, my brother!
Seeing through that glass darkly—and then Face To Face—how cool will that be?
Just to finally see HIM face to face! To look into the eyes of my Savior, my Lord!
To know HIM in HIS fullness… to walk those streets of gold…swim in that crystal sea!

Okay, okay… maybe the “swimming” part is not allowed, but… IF IT IS…
I am there…doing belly flops in the crystal sea!
But until then
Just not ready to give up… sit on a couch, clicking my life away, the only movement is my thumb on the clicker…
I am not ready for the “waiting to die” mentality.
Still want to get out there and…Work my Dream—Star in my own Second Act!

My second act seems to be this “writing” thing that God opened up for me.
What started with writing my first novel One Unexpected Event (available thru Kindle or purchase on demand)…something I loved doing…
Opened the door for me to be offered a monthly writing gig with my publishers Xulon Press—a wonderful Christian organization—they really live the life—how refreshing.
And I now get the opportunity to interview Christian authors and write about their lives, their testimonies, their “second acts”!
Check out some of my interviews, especially Jackie Carpenter and Andy Purvis, at:

All because… I wasn’t waiting to die…I dared to dream…I gave it to God… did my best…prayed a prayer…
and I said, “Lord, use me again… don’t put me on a shelf to gather dust… Use me!”
And apparently… He had a plan…and I am living His Plan for MY life…
 MY Second Act!

So??? What about you??? What’s your Second Act? Your Next Chapter?
Do you feel like you are just “waiting to die?” or…antsy to get moving again?
Don’t let the creeping white hair on your temples convince you that you are too old!
That’s just a tape worm working on the outside…it can’t touch you on the inside!

So…Say your Prayer! Do your Best!
God will put you to the Test!!
Anybody out there ready for a Second Act?
Raise your hand and then Stand!

God’s dusting you off the shelf—
He will give you the desires of your heart IF you delight yourself in the Lord!
Get Ready, Get Ready!

Dying’s just gonna have to wait!
Until Next Time

I’m Just Sayin’…
