I remember growing up, the old timers would
always say…
“If you got your health—you got everything!”
But I didn’t believe them…I “needed” things to
have every THING!
Until I became mortal!
Yep—Mortal!
It took me until I was 49, on a hot summer’s
morning, on July 2nd, 2009!The day I had my heart attack!
That’s the day I finally realized—I could die!
Until then—always felt invincible, unstoppable, immortal!
But that day?
That’s the day I realized…
I could have died.
And it was a rough haul for me—
I was NOT the poster child for “have a heart attack, get a stent, get back to work the next day!”
No—that was NOT my journey.
But two years of regular chest pain ended when the Lord healed my heart!
And what’s so funny is… It was a day after I said “Lord, if you never touch my heart, I am still going live each day thanking you for being alive!”
And I meant that—and I guess He knew I meant it.
And my heart has been healed for two years now.
I just had my yearly heart check up.
It was a week of tests!
The kind you can’t study for!!
I had my echo exam to check my ejection factor, my chemical stress test, even my carotid arteries got checked!
And the dreaded blood work!
When my doctor saw me, he said “you’re in perfect health—now lose weight!”
He is so matter of fact and to the point—
Bottom line—all of the tests confirm “Still HEALED 2 YEARS LATER!!!”
And I just had to testify!
I told the intern at the doctor’s office.
She looked through my records from 2 years ago and said “yes, you’re right—you were pretty sick back then!”
But then she looked at the results from last week and said “but, you are certainly healthy now!”
I told her how the Lord healed me, and she said “I’m a believer—you’re test results from 2 years ago compared to last week… proves it!”
And I had to shout!
I told my wife, my kids, my friends, my facebook friends—I am so thankful to be alive…and happy to be healthy!
And I woke up today and just said “Thank you Lord for the gift of my health—I owe it all to you!”
There are wealthy people in hospitals today—and they have all the money but are still sick.
I may not have money to retire.
I may not have a weekend home on the lake.
I may not have the newest car.
I may not have the lottery numbers!
But…I have my health…and I have everything!
And I owe it all to the Lord!
I guess now I’m the old timer saying “If you got your health… you got everything!
I’m Just… Reflecting on -- Life!
