Reflections Of… FATHERS!

Devoted
And Dependable=DAD
DAD
isn’t always the biological provider of what created you…
Sometimes…he’s
the guy who chose to devote his life and be that dependable person you could
count on—through anything.
Happy
Father’s Day to all the DADs out there—those who are present and accounted for,
never sleeping on the job, always willing to be whatever is needed.
You
are our unsung heroes in our society!
The
news always talks about the deadbeat dad, but…they never salute and honor those
of us who have made our life’s mission to be devoted and dependable!
You
see that picture?
That’s
my friend Derrick—I call him Captain “D”!
That’s
him with his three boys—you see how they love and respect that man?
He
has devoted and dedicated his life to these boys—and he would give up his life
if any one of them needed it!
Derrick
is that father we would all love to have—he can be counted on—no matter how
tough the situation—and there have been some Tough situations…
Captain
“D” has always been there for his boys!
And
they know it—and they love him for it!
And
no one could ever tell that… two are his stepsons and one is his biological son
he couldn’t find for a few years—
He
never gave up looking and this year—with his wife’s help—thank God for good
wives—he found him—and now—look at them!
Just
one happy family, a father and his three sons!
And
that’s what makes a DAD—Derrick is my choice for Father of the Year!
He
is what everyone needs in their life—he is devoted and dependable—to his three
boys! And they treat him with the respect and love that he has earned—by being present and accounted for!
I salute him and all the unsung heroes of DADhood!
You see…it’s not fathering children that makes you a DAD—it’s parenting children that does!
Our Society is in desperate need of DADs—those who will parent a boy, call him a son, and mentor him through his journey to manhood!
I interviewed Pastor Joshua Rodriguez for my Successful Author Spotlight column for Xulon Press.
He
has written a book about mentoring boys through the journey to manhood!
He
talks about how in the Bible, Eunice, a grandmother, knew that Timothy, who
didn’t have a father, knew…Timothy needed a mentor—a father figure in his life—a DAD!
And she asked Paul, the Apostle, to mentor her grandson—and HE DID!
He was a busy man, writing, preaching, being placed in jail- but he was NOT too busy to mentor a boy on his journey to MANhood!
Paul writes to Timothy “don’t hate your youth—stir up the gift God gave you and use it for Him—while you are young!”
He was encouraging Timothy to live for God in his young years—something Paul didn’t do—Paul was passing on his advice to his Son!
Pastor Rodriguez said we as a nation need to mentor these fatherless boys—take them on as our own sons—give them a home in your heart!
Let them know that… you can be counted on to be present in their lives—you are Devoted and Dependable – to them!
We as fathers, godly men who love the Lord and seek to please Him in our lives—we need to be a Paul to a Timothy!
We need to mentor a boy on his journey to manhood!
It doesn’t matter whether you are related to them biologically—you become related to them spiritually—you adopt them in your heart!
The Bible tells us that we are all adopted into God’s Family, and that’s why we cry “Abba, Father” and He hears us and loves us!
See?
God adopted each of us—treating like we are his biological child—with the same rewards—because He chose to love us!
So today…
I challenge you DADs out there—
FIND a Timothy, BE a PAUL!
THEY need YOU!
