I can remember when she was born. My wife and I actually had her big brother Mykai (pronounced Mick-Kie) with us that day.
My daughter had asked us to take care of him so their moms could be in the delivery room.
We loved spending time with Mykai—so it was just a fun day with our firstborn grandson.
And when we got the word—we took him to the hospital, put on his BIG BROTHER t-shirt and …
We escorted him to meet his little sister!
He was so excited—she was so small!
And they have been inseparable since that first meeting.
Mykai is more calm and quiet—Macie is a little Me!!
I loved to hear her say, at the top of her lungs “Hi Nano! Whatcha doin’?”
She has a natural megaphone built into her voice—just like someone I know.
Makes me laugh that she got my voice! I suspect her parents are not pleased!
We’ve watched them grow up so fast—
Mykai is in second grade now—smartest boy in class—always on the Best Kid List!
Macie is in kindergarten – adjusting to being at school all day and all the new kids she gets to meet.
And yet, I remember meeting them both for the first time—Priceless!
Taking them to the beach, to the park; spending time with them at their house.
Running around the block with Mykai on his tricycle; coloring easter eggs with Macie!
Miss the time we cannot spend with them; and soon, they will be old enough to decide when they want to spend time with us!
Until then… with two hearts full of love and adoration--
Happy Biggest Birthday Ever-- Macie Girl! Your Nano and Nana love you to the Moon and Back!
Points2Ponder Why is it that our grandkids are just so
much fun? Do you remember having this much fun with your kids?
Anybody remember the old Art Linkletter(I just
dated myself- I know!) or the Bill Cosby remake of “Kids Say the Darndest
Things!” ?
We used to watch it as a family—and everyone
would laugh out loud-- before there was LOL!Well…something like that happened at our Family Reunion, and I thought “Why wasn’t the video rolling on this one?”
My lovely wife was in hog heaven—holding our youngest Princess, Miss Cali!
And my grandson Jett was with me, sitting on my lap while I was singing to Cali.
Apparently, my bass bellowing voice soothes her and calms her down—go figure!
So I stopped and said “I am so proud to be Cali’s Nano!”
And Jett does this quick turnaround and looks at me and says…
“You are MY Nano!”
I was startled and taken aback.
I said, “Yes, but I am also Cali’s Nano!”He looked at her, looked at me, looked back at her and said “NO!! you are MY Nano!”
I think someone forgot to tell him that he would have to share his Nano with his sister!
Nana and I just laughed our heads off—he was having none of it!
But it made me realize—it’s been only JettJett for almost four years now—until Miss Cali showed up!
So… I will just have to find a way to stretch myself between the two so he never feels like he is losing his Nano!
I can make that happen—I wear a red cape with blue tights—maybe NOT tights—more like gym shorts—and I have an “S” on my chest!
I am Super Nano !
At least I am to Jett—and that’s all that matters to me!
Don’t you just love being a grandparent?
