Points2Ponder

We love the winter; we love the South; we love to putz through downtown, arm in arm, just taking in the sights—
And shopping!
Yeh—I’m a closet shopper—okay, if you know me, you know—my two homes full of my winter sweaters and weight-loss/weight-gain clothes…
Says it all!
And Bella loves to just meander through old shops, she calls it antiques, I call it junk—but it makes her happy.
And we all know—Happy wife, Happy life!
One of the things I like to do is… check out cards—see which card can stop me in my tracks!
You know—the one that says something that makes you go HUH! Or just shuts you up and you can’t say a word!
I was in one of the shops, and I saw a rack of cards, and I saw it!
It was one of those—“shuts you up and you can’t say a word” kinda cards!
You see it—what does it immediately make you think about?
Points2Ponder Why do we allow our mind to stop us from
doing something we want to do—because we are too old? How old would you be, if
you didn’t know how old you are?
WOW! I have to admit—it made me think.I took it up to the cashier, and she laughed a silly young girl’s laugh—even though she was definitely no longer silly OR young!
She said “I remember looking at this card when it came in and wondering? How old would I think I was?”
She laughed again and then said “I decided I would be 17—that’s how old I feel in my mind, so? Why not?”
I agreed. Then she did something most people would not have done—I mean, she had the sale, and I had paid for the card, but…
She said “And what about you? How old would you be…if you didn’t know how old you are?”
I spoke up immediately “25! That was my favorite year! I was immortal, I was unstoppable; my son had just been born, and I had just started travelling internationally! I was King of the World—and I controlled my world!”
I felt invigorated just reliving it—yes, I was 25 again!
We ended up going somewhere a few days later, and I saw it!
An adult sized version of bubbles!
Yep—just inviting anyone who felt just “kid” enough to play with bubbles again!
And I did...so I did!
And it was so much fun!
The kids seeing me play with the bubbles laughed!
The parents with those kids at first snickered and then said “you go ahead—looks like fun!”
And I said “you know what? It really is—maybe even more fun at this age than when I was a kid—maybe because—I’m supposed to be too old to enjoy it—but, I’m NOT!”
So… I was at work today, and I mentioned to two ladies I work with the card that I bought.
They immediately became whimsical—one said “I would be 15—I was so innocent, so in love with everything!”
And the other one said, “I’d be 40—that was a good age—but wait, we can be any age we want? I would be 17—first car, first job—I loved it all!”
And I watched their faces, and I knew the feeling they were exhibiting—that sense of “timelessness!”
You see…
If it’s only others and our own restraints that make us look, feel and behave “old”…
Why let them do that?
When you could be any age…
What age would you be?
