Can you ever be too old for a …
SURPRISE!
How about a Surprise Birthday Party? You have to know—I do birthdays big!
Of course—some would say—I do EVERYTHING BIG!
Guess I should have been a Texan!
But birthdays? I just feel like we should embrace the day! Celebrate the moment! Count the candles!
Points2Ponder When’s the last time anybody threw you a
Surprise Birthday Party?
My brother and sister-in-law are unique in a
lot of ways
One of those ways is… they are one day a part
in age!And SHE’s the older one!
Yep—November 1st is Kay’s birthday; November 2nd is Paul’s.
They are something like 12 hours different—I forget that detail.
So every year, we get together to celebrate their birthdays together.
Kay is always excited about it; Paul? I think he just tolerates it.
We were planning to have dinner this year.
But unfortunately, the Florida/Georgia football game was going overtime!
And so… our plans had to be delayed.
You have to know—in Paul’s world—everything stops for a Gator!
So we told them to call us when the game was finished…
An hour or more later… and it was just too late.
We had to get back, so I texted Kay that… we would do it another time.
She texted back that she was sorry that they had kept us waiting.
Did I mention that…I am NOT a Gator fan?
Did I also mention that… you have to PLAN a Surprise Party?
Yep—we were driving around, with Cake, Presents AND a Princess Balloon(For Kay, of course!”
We were headed back with all you need for a Surprise Birthday Party—except the guests of honor!
Then we got a call. “Why don’t you guys meet us at the ABC Pizza in Plant City?”
I laughed—this was gonna be good!
I said, “Sure—we can meet you!”
You have to know… this was going to be Priceless!
ABC Pizza is NOT the place for a Surprise Birthday Party!
Oddly, when I walked in with the Princess Balloon, the waitress asked me “Do you have a reservation?”
Apparently, they DO have parties there!
So we got in place: balloons, presents… and cakes!
And then they walked in—and I started singing Happy Birthday!
You see the picture? Yep—she was surprised alright!
And Paul?
I think he was embarrassed—of course the Gators had just lost to Georgia, so that could have been it, also!
And Kay?
She smiled ear to ear!
She said, “You’ve been driving around with all of this in your car? And you almost went home with it?”
“Yes—we are your Mobile Surprise Birthday Party People!”
She laughed and hugged me and whispered “I can’t remember the last time someone threw me a surprise birthday party!”
Then she laughed and said “I love it!! I really do!”
We sat in the middle of families with kids, old timers with friends and young couples.
Having our Party for Four!
As we left, Paul was taking Kay’s balloon out to the car.
One of the old timers whistled and said, “I like your balloon…PRINCESS!”
Now that was just icing on the cake!
Share a Surprise Birthday Memory!
