“I’m
Just Sayin’”
by Alan P. Scaglione
It’s the most wonderful time of the
year!!!
We’ve all gathered together to ask the
Lord’s blessing…Some of us even braved Black Friday….
But now—It’s time to HO HO HO Our Way into the Holidays!!
It’s time to CELEBRATE!!!
It’s Christmas Time!!
My favorite time of the year!
I have a little Christmas Tree at my desk at work—that I pull out on September 1st!
Yep—THAT September 1st!
My friends at work all go “There he goes—starting with Christmas and it’s just barely Labor Day!”
I get laughed at, and I get made fun of—but I don’t care—I start thinking about Christmas 4 months early!
But now—it’s official!! There are Christmas Tree Lots and Salvation Army Bell Ringers!
Some radio stations have gone to “All Christmas All the Time”—something that irks my wife—never seen her change the station so often!!!
And I played my new Christmas CD—a compilation that is original—my buddy Rick at work makes a new one each year and gives it out!
Great stuff—I have waited til Thanksgiving Night the last 5 years to play his “new” CD, proclaiming the “official” start of Christmas!
And RickeyD never disappoints! The songs all celebrate Christmas!
I have decided to do something a little different for our grandkids this year!
This year—I am sharing the 12 Days of Christmas with them!
On December 13th, they will receive their first of 12 presents, one given each day, along with a card from Nana and Nano!
It’s a prelude to Christmas Morning!
I have been planning this for a couple of months, making a list of ideas for each day…
Some identical for all three kids, some days totally unique to that child.
I just finished their ornaments for this year—each year, they get a new ornament from Nano and Nana!
And I have been gathering everything that will be needed—from the big box it will all go into… to the traditional Wal-Mart Bear I always buy them!
All of it—just to make their Christmas memorable—to celebrate the joy of the season—to commemorate the Reason for the Season—Jesus!
Yes, just like the 3 Wise Men
brought gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh to give to the newborn
Messiah (who was actually around 2 years old when they found him!)
We give to our children and
grandchildren—never losing sight of the
Greatest Gift ever given to mankind—Jesus Christ-- the Reason for the Season! And even if we HO HO HOIST ourselves up to the rooftop to act like old Saint Nick or string popcorn onto our Old Tannenbaum…
Never EVER is there one moment when we forget the True Reason for the Season!
I wrote a song once that said, in a
very comical way:
“Santa
Rides his bright red sleighWith Rudolph there to lead the way
Before those gifts are all passed out
HE MAKES ONE STOP!
Every Silent Holy Night
He finds that Inn where the star shines bright
He removes his hat…
On Bended knee he comes
For even Santa knows....
That JESUS is the reason… for the season!”
Make no mistake, we as Christians have a right to
Celebrate!
The Savior of the World, The Gift to Mankind…His birth is celebrated world round at this time of year.
I won’t debate whether He actually was born closer to March time frame instead of December—
What matters is that we Keep Christ In Christmas!
I challenge you this Christmas Season…
Instead of Happy Holidays…proudly proclaim MERRY CHRISTMAS!
We as Christians have become bashful in our proclamations,
unwilling to offend or ruffle feathers!
Well call me CockaDoodleDoo!
Consider some feathers ruffled and some unintended possible offense …
But the angels declared in Luke 2:10-14:10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
So practice your “Proclaiming” this Season… you have nothing to apologize for…
For Even Santa Knows…Jesus is the Reason for the Season!
Until Next Time
